This morning the girls had the traditional Cliff egg hunt -- in the living-dining room, and a good thing, since it rain rain rained all night -- and we talked about what Easter is really about.
We talked about springtime, new life, and how the Savior rising from the tomb after three days means everyone, everywhere, will live again.
As an aside I mentioned that Easter and Christmas are such a big deal that even people who don't normally go to church attend services.
Throughout the week I noticed signs announcing that a lot of places that are usually open on Sunday will be closed today, too. So people can worship and spend time with their families.
And that makes me happy.
This morning after the hunt Katie shared a marshmallow bunny with me. But first she bit the ears off, which I surmised was her twist on a plotline from the comics page. This comic features a more-put-together-than-the-parents sassy daughter that I thought was so funny when I was a teen but now not so much.
I referenced the comic as she handed the earless bunny to me and we shared a moment. Then I picked up my Dove dark chocolate bunny and bit off its ears.
I'm off to paint my toenails pink for church...
Happy Easter!

My girls noticed too,the flurry of people going to and from their homes all dressed up in church clothes as we drove off to church. Crystal said the neighbor across the street, upon apparently returning from a church service, said to a companion, "I'm glad that's over with for another year." Sad.
