Many Waters

So I stole the title of this post from Madeleine L'Engle -- just a shout out to one of my favorite children's authors, who died this week.

And did I mention the rain?! It was so fierce at school drop off time the carpool line backed up past the stopsign on Mustang. Apparently when it is raining sideways NOONE walks to school. At one point the runoff spilled back up over the curbs and sidewalk and I was afraid my car might be one of those floaters that ends up on the news while they remind you not to try driving across standing water. And of course I was in pjs.

Still am, as a matter of fact, even though I have been up since 6am. However, laundry is going and bread is rising. The mole guy just called to cancel the front lawn treatment and it feels like a clean-the-closets-out kind of day. Better get dressed so I don't spend the day hanging around like a Carpenter's song.

FYI

Hanging around / nothing to do but frown / rainy days and Mondays always get me down

The Carpenters were a brother-sister duo from th 1970s. We used to rollerskate in the unfinished basement to their records. Yes, I said records!

Thanks for the cute mental image of you and Karen (and Kristin?) as little girls on four-wheeled skates rolling around the basement as the record player rotates.
